Can foreigners take the National Medical Licensing Examination (NMLE) of China?

After graduating from an undergraduate program in clinical medicine, foreigners may be eligible to apply for the National Medical Licensing Examination in China after a one - year hospital internship, but they need to meet several conditions.

According to the "Notice on Issues Concerning Foreigners with Chinese Medical Professional Degrees Applying to Take the National Medical Licensing Examination of the People's Republic of China", foreigners are required to obtain a full - time undergraduate degree in a general medical major in China recognized by the educational administrative department of the Chinese government. The major they study must meet the registration requirements of the National Medical Licensing Examination in China. After obtaining the degree, they must complete one - year internship in a medical institution in China under the guidance of a practicing doctor. The internship institution must be an affiliated hospital of the institution of higher learning that provides their degree - awarding education. At the same time, they must complete relevant application, visa, residence and other procedures as required before they can apply to take the licensing examinations for practicing doctors in clinical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and stomatology.
