Firstly, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, students enrolled in this program are required to pass the HSK 4 prior to commencing clinical practice. Secondly, since the internship for this project will take place in an affiliated hospital, having a good command of Chinese is of great benefit to the hospital - based internship. During the internship, while the doctors may be able to speak English, the patients typically communicate only in Chinese. Mastering Chinese will enable you to effectively communicate with the patients, thus allowing you to acquire the maximum amount of clinical knowledge and skills.
Moreover, as students will be living and studying in China for six years, being proficient in Chinese will ensure a more comfortable experience during their stay. For university students, learning a language is no longer an insurmountable challenge. In fact, many students manage to pass the HSK 4 after just one year of study. Additionally, learning Chinese is quite enjoyable. You'll find that you unconsciously gain a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture. A good command of Chinese will not only expand your career prospects but also enhance your communication skills.
